After a successful round of testing, Facebook has officially rolled an alternative News Feed across mobile and desktop devices. Accessible through the main navigation, the “Explore Feed” allows users to discover more content across the social network beyond posts from friends and followed Pages. This content is tailored to each specific user, based on previously liked posts and content that’s currently popular among the user’s network.
Twitter has announced its first original live and in-stream programming in the UK. In partnership with a number of publishers and broadcasters (including BT Sport, Glamour and BBC), content will cover sports, entertainment, news and more. This new feature is coupled with the expansion of Twitter’s video ad solutions. After a successful launch in the US, in-stream ads will be now available to businesses in the UK.
Facebook has begun testing a new feature that will allow users to select several status updates, photos or videos and share them as a themed collection. These collections, known as Sets, draw a close comparison with Pinterest’s Boards. Could this be Facebook’s way of competing with the rival social network?
Snapchat has announced plans to create original scripted content with the help of new partner NBC Universal. Appearing in the Shows section of the app, these videos will be around three to five minutes long and, of course, shot in vertical mobile format.
Facebook is taking a page out of LinkedIn’s playbook as it tests a new feature which will allow users to build and maintain their CV. The social network has long allowed users to share their education and professional experience on the platform, but it looks like Facebook is bringing this feature to the forefront.
