The online landscape is ever-changing. New devices, platforms and features are introduced on what feels like a daily basis. We’ve put together a roundup of this week’s biggest stories to help you stay ahead of the curve!
We’re excited for the future of Google Maps, with the recent announcement that this summer will see an enhancement of the service. While the maps functions will not change, we’ll be welcoming a ‘For You’ tab, to help us explore locations, neighbourhoods and cities that may be relevant to our daily/weekly experiences. Google Maps will curate content based on updates happening in the areas around us – be it a launch of a cool new coffee shop or beyond.
Actions buttons are making an appearance on Instagram, allowing businesses to provide a full service without using the app! Users will be able to make reservations, buy a ticket, start and order or make a booking via a third-party service – all on an Instagram business profile.
This is a huge development for brands like OpenTable and Eventbrite – and will be sure to grow in influence and functionality.
Instagram is working on letting users add music to Stories, via the user of ‘music stickers’. You’ll be able to search for and add a song to your post, supported by licensing deals Facebook has been working on with major record labels.
