The online landscape is ever-changing. New devices, platforms and features are introduced on what feels like a daily basis. We’ve put together a roundup of this week’s biggest stories to help you stay ahead of the curve!
Ahead of their conference next week, Google have introduced a new mobile app for its point-and-shoot cameras. The app allows users to manage all aspects of their camera, including managing clips, device settings and video content uploads.
We’ll no doubt hear more at the conference!
A huge, yet quiet, development for Instagram this week – the introduction of a payment feature to the app, allowing users to register a debit or credit card as part of your profile. The feature also allows you to set up a security pin, and yes, start buying things without leaving the app!
WhatApp’s Status now has 450M users per day, compared to Snapchat’s 191 million daily users! They have just announced new features including stickers and Group Video calling to enhance the user experience.
One to watch out for is the monetisation of the app, with 3 million companies on its new WhatsApp for Business app we can predict that bonus packages will be built and marketed to the likes of airlines, banks and mobile carriers.
Focused on the ease of the user experience, Instagram’s ‘Explore’ section will be getting a bit of a facelift. The update intends to improve discovery through better organisation of topical channels based on your personal interests and tastes. This will make the feel more relevant to each user and encourage longer use of the app. Topic pages will be introduced just below the search bar for quicker browsing.Instagram launches “Data Download” tool to let you leave
